CHESTER City skipper Stephen Vaughan has rejected an offer from Boston United to join them on a month's loan.

Boston boss Steve Evans wanted the midfielder to make the switch to the York Street club prior to their trip to Barnet tonight.

'I am extremely flattered by the approach from Boston, but I am the Chester captain, and I am Chester City through and through,' Vaughan said.

'I want to be a part of the progress we will make this season.

'We have a great bunch of players here, and while the results in the last few games haven't gone for us, when this new squad gels we will be a force to be reckoned with.'

Chester entertain seventh placed Notts County at the Deva Sdium tonight.

The hosts will be desperate to claim a victory after picking up just one point from the last 15 on offer.

Assistant boss Graham Barrow said: 'They have had quite a good start to the season, but we know we have to improve in the final third. The weekend defeat at Wycombe was disappointing, we all the performance wasn't good enough.'

Striker Jon Walters (ankle) is ruled out, while Sean Hessey (groin) is rated doubtful.
